Valentine’s Day: Make It Great!

She said: “So what are we doing on Valentine’s Day?”

He said: “I thought we could go out for a movie and dinner.”

She said: “We can do that anytime. Let’s do something special.”

He said: “Like what?”

She said: “If you REALLY loved me, you wouldn’t have to ask.”

February is here and the Valentine’s Day countdown has begun. For couples, this means that they have about a week to figure out how to make the day extra special; special enough to post on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram and other such social media platforms. Unfortunately, with the pressure of celebrating the perfect Valentine’s Day that’s good enough to show to the world, we often forget what the day is actually supposed to be about – love.

Here’s how you can make this Valentine’s Day great, not for the world, but for each other:

Celebrate Love.

Valentine’s Day gives us a chance to rekindle our love for our partner. Use it to celebrate your relationship and to remember why you fell in love with each other in the first place. Be extra generous with your compliments and affection.

Dare To Be You.

Resist the pressure from your friends and family to do something big and showy (unless that’s what make you happy!). Instead, spend the day doing something together, preferably something you both enjoy. It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you have fun. This will bring the two of you closer and create happy memories that you can carry beyond Valentine’s Day.

The Date is Just a Number.

If for any reason, one of you is unavailable on Valentine’s Day, remember that it is just one day in your relationship. Any day can be Valentine’s Day, if you decide to spend it together with love.

Talk it Out.

Although surprises can be fun, planning one can be quite stressful. Take away the stress by telling your partner in clear words how you want to spend Valentine’s Day instead of expecting your partner to magically know what you want. This way, you won’t be disappointed and will actually end up doing what you want.

Don’t forget that you don’t need to wait for Valentine’s Day to show your affection for each other. Make every day special by nourishing your relationship with the love, care and respect that it deserves.
